Meet the founder
Kelly was raised in Elizabethville and graduated from Upper Dauphin Area High School in 2010. She was a volunteer firefighter with Reliance Hose Co. No. 1 from 2007 to 2013 and a Lifeguard in Twentynine Palms, CA from 2014 to 2015. In 2015, she earned her associate's degree in Liberal Arts with Math and Science emphasis at Copper Mountain College, Joshua Tree, CA.
Kelly served on active duty in the United States Marine Corps as an Administrative Specialist from 2017 to 2021. During her time in, she was stationed at Marine Corps Recruiting Station Frederick, Maryland and earned the rank of Corporal.
In 2023, Kelly studied in Harrisburg Area Community College’s Massage Therapy Program. In April 2023, she began to build what is now Grounded Wellness Care, LLC. She graduated in December 2023, became a Licensed Massage Therapist in the State of Pennsylvania in January 2024 and is now practicing in Elizabethville, PA while continuing her education to become certified in Fascial Counterstrain.
Kelly and her husband have two kids (three technically, she counts her dog, Kodiak Milo, as her eldest son). All of the above are her world. Kelly loves animals, hiking, beautiful scenery, and spending time with her loved ones. She tries her hand at fruit and vegetable gardening (not very good at it yet) and she loves to cook and bake for her family and friends. She never has any available space on her phone from never deleting any of the precious photos she takes of her family living and loving life. She loves to adventure, play card games with the family, snuggle with Kodiak and singing.
Kelly’s most important goal is remaining present and ‘grounded’ in the moment as she strives to be the best mom and wife she can be on her path through life. You’ll notice she doesn’t have generally predictable hours as she completely shapes her availability, season to season, around the needs of her family.
It is an honor to her to be able to use her skills and knowledge to help everyone she can through bodywork. There is a profound sense of reward that comes from promoting the importance of maintaining wellness, physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
My “Why”
“My fifth grade reading teacher, Mr. Daniel Bloch, asked us an important question. “If you could have one super human power, what would it be”? I have a strong connection to faith and so I thought of Jesus and how he healed the sick and injured.
My dad, Daniel Schreffler, became sick with lung cancer and passed away when I was five years old. He was a good man and a brave, outstanding father. I thought about how I wish I could’ve healed dad. When Mr. Bloch asked us to share, my verbal response was, “healing hands”, and he smiled.
At 11 or 12 years old, I could have never foreseen that I would one day be 27 years old, injured on active duty in the Marine Corps, and asking God to please heal me. And when I felt hopeless, God led me on a path to a Physical Therapist named Brian Tuckey. Brian pioneered research deeper into the Jones technique of Strain Counterstrain and was now practicing Fascial Counterstrain in Frederick, MD. Within one session I knew my life was going to change. He helped to give me my quality of life back, using his hands to heal. The first thought I had when he first treated me was, “this is incredible how he can use his hands to heal”. And I remembered Mr. Bloch’s question, and his smile he gave me when I said “healing hands”.
Even though I was healing slowly, it wasn’t enough to maintain readiness standards in the Marine Corps in time to reenlist and they didn’t know if I would make a full recovery that would enable me to be on active duty. I was unfortunately medically retired from the Marine Corps after my first four year contract, but I was given the opportunity to be a full time stay at home mom to my beautiful children and I was given the opportunity to start a new career as a healer.
What I do with my hands to heal people will never be as miraculous as how Jesus healed others through God. The work I’m learning would not have cured my dad’s cancer. Nevertheless, what I do to heal others with my hands is important because it can help people improve their wellness in advance of catastrophic situations. It helps people experience a better quality of life and healing.
God had a plan for my dad and brought him home to be with the Lord when he was needed there. Leading my kids by positive example, making a difference to help others, earning an income to reach family goals- they’re all good answers to why I am in this field. The best reason why I am in this field though is that it is a great way to keep my loved ones healthy and honor my dad. I can find fulfilment through giving others the opportunity to lead a better quality of life and promote their wellness to enjoy a healthy life with their loved ones.
To be the best mom, wife, and healer I can be, are the greatest purposes I have found so far in my life. And I pray to help as many as I can.”
