Grounded Wellness Care

Grounded Wellness Care, LLC is a Marine Corps veteran owned/operated business offering Fascial Counterstrain (FCS) technique as a health service to the central Pennsylvania region. Upon injury in 2019, Kelly Martin found that FCS was the most effective tool for her injury recovery and sought the education route to become a ‘Counterstrainer’ herself. It’s important to her to feel healthy and strong, FCS allowed her to regain and maintain that. Kelly now effectively balances functioning day to day as a mother, wife, and healing/maintaining health for as many as possible using Fascial Counterstrain.

At one point or another in her journey she prayed that each healthcare professional she was relying on for help would be honest, patient, well-educated, and would not give up on her. Ultimately, she wants to be that professional for you now. Whether you’re feeling good, strong, and would like to keep it that way or whether you are like Kelly at some point on a journey to recovery physically or psychologically; Fascial Counterstrain is a beneficial healing and wellness tool for many.

Post Session/ Follow Up Care

Grounded Wellness Care is not operated by a doctor, mental health counselor, dietician, or specialist so Kelly cannot prescribe or tell you what to do. DO NOT take the following information shared as an order and do not take it upon yourself to change your lifestyle without consulting with your primary care provider first. Every body is different and responds to things differently. Kelly is allowed to share her own experiences of what works best for her post session to make the most of the work performed.

“I prefer to choose healthier decisions most days but you do NOT have to have the healthiest diet, sleep routine, or lifestyle for Fascial Counterstrain (FCS) to benefit you. I feel the sessions of counterstrain that I receive have greater impact on me if I make consciously better health choices a couple of days before and after. I eat an anti-inflammatory style diet, make sure I feel comfortably hydrated, and have a beneficial sleep routine that allows for deep and REM (rapid eye movement) sleep. I enjoy going for a family walk in the evening instead of watching movies on the couch those nights so my body is moving, not stagnating. I may even try an Epsom salt bath to aid in relaxing my muscles if a feel a little sore. Generally speaking, I feel the greatest effects of Counterstrain within the first 72-96 hours after.

No one is perfect, I most certainly will never be, I do NOT always eat healthy. I am a mom so I do like to lead by example so my kids don’t struggle as hard with the sweet tooth I acquired from the 90’s. Rest assured though our family goes out for local ice cream time to time, my kids may have a Hershey kiss after dinner if they eat all their vegetables, and Fridays at my house are definitely dubbed by the kids as hot dog and macaroni and cheese nights. I’m not ashamed. I’m just a work in progress at the moment and I’m okay with that. I’m better than what and who I used to be every day.”

What is Fascial Counterstrain?

Fascial Counterstrain (FCS) is a multisystem evaluation and treatment method for the body. FCS targets dysfunction of the fascia to relieve acute and chronic pain while improving quality of life in general. It’s effective in relieving pain without the use of medications. It is an indirect, soft tissue healing modality that decompresses tension in the tissue to reduce inflammation and improve circulation (Tuckey B, 2025).

For a thorough description and case study with videos documenting the technique, please visit the International Journal of Osteopathic Medicine online to read Dr. Brian Tuckey’s ‘Fascial Counterstrain: A Methodological Advancement in Indirect Osteopathic Manipulation’.

Patients and practitioner’s alike to visit the official counterstrain website directly; Practitioners click HERE, Patients click HERE.

FCS does NOT replace the necessity for consulting with your physician for healthcare. FCS falls into Kelly’s scope of practice as a Licensed Massage Therapist as she is manipulating the soft tissue to indirectly relax fascia. Please note, she is not directly treating organs or systems of the body.
